11/6/2023 0 Comments Jbl pulse 2 vs ue boom 2![]() Despite both UE and JBL claims that their devices can last up to 15 hours on a charge, only JBL can really provide 15 hours. When it comes to battery life, the Xtreme is a clear winner. But for the normal practical use, expect not more than 10 hours on a moderate volume level. The Boom 2 charges very quickly, in around 2.5 hours. The battery has been upgraded from 2100 mAh (the original Boom) to a larger 4000 mAh battery. Now you can connect multiple JBL speakers from the same source and play them in stereo mode, offering better sound separation than using only a single speaker.īoth speakers are missing NFC (near field communication) feature for easy pairing, which is highly convenient for Android users. JBL offers a similar feature as UE that is available in all of their new speakers, called JBL connect. ![]() The PartyUp feature allows you to connect wirelessly more than 50 UE speakers. When it comes to the indoor use of the device, with doors and walls, I had no problem with leaving my phone in a different room (one wall) then the speaker. I could get about 80 feet from the speaker until started to have problems with the connection. UE claims that Boom 2 can be used, in optimal conditions, up to 100 feet from the device. The mid-range is decent but not as crisp as in other speakers. This is a good speaker for someone who doesn’t care too much about bass, which is quite average on this device. But at the full volume there is sound distortion, so keep the volume lower than 70% – just don’t push it to its limits. At the full volume, it can also be useful for medium-sized rooms. Of course, it can’t compete with a much larger Xtreme, but for small it’s perfect. The speaker is very loud considering its form factor. No matter which side of the speaker is standing out you will receive the same loudness. UE Boom 2 is one of a few speakers available which gives you a full 360-degree sound. I hope that the alarm feature will be improved because you can’t set alarm for individual days or exclude weekends – you can set it only for every day or disable it. So if size and price is important to you rather than a bit more bass in your music, the Flip 3 makes for a great affordable priced speaker that's highly portable. The Boom 2 speaker comes with a dedicated app – both for Android and IOS, which gives you some additional features.īoom 2 also gives you a basic alarm that wakes you up with music that’s stored on your phone. Again, it's really the same situation with the Flip 3 overpowering the UE Roll, only here it's bigger brother - the Charge 2/2+ - overpowers it with punchier sounding bass. When compared to the $150 JBL Charge 2+, the Flip 3 doesn't quite match up to the deeper low-end of the Charge model. But again, the difference doesn't merit the cost compared to the Flip 3. That said, after quite some time of music listening, I did find that the UE Boom 2 was capable of producing a punchier sounding low-end. It also produces a good balance between the highs, mids and lows. Neither have really good, deep sounding bass and actually perform extremely similarly to a point where you wouldn't be able to tell them apart when trying to listen to the bass response alone. The Flip 3 on the other hand sounds warmer but in a good, forward sounding way. It's almost as if the UE Boom 2 is once again treble-happy to the point where it's too much and super bright sounding and very dispersed. Treble is what separates how the UE Boom 2 sounds compared to the Flip 3 the most. Not a big deal for the Flip 3 though because it costs half as much as the UE Boom 2 does, which we found to distort severely at high volumes. The Flip 3 comes close to it, but it can't beat the UE Boom 2 as it's louder and it has larger drivers so audio sounds fuller. We know the Flip 3 sounds better than the UE Roll, but can it also take on the UE Boom - a speaker that costs twice as much? Against the original UE Boom, JBL's Flip 3 sounds more pleasing with its richer, bassy sound and sharp vocal clarity. But does it sound any better than the UE Boom 2 (shown above on the left)? To that we have to say no.
